High Gas Prices have Campgrounds Busy
R News recently had a compelling article about gas prices in relation to camping. Although most people would think that rising prices would have a negative impact on the RV business, it appears that just the opposite is occuring.
"Rising prices at the gas pumps are bad news for drivers, but for the state parks system, it's good news. With gas prices expected to hit $4.00 a gallon this summer, camping reservations at state parks are already up 16% from this time last year. It's a trend that's expected to continue as those planning a vacation look for a less expensive option." The article continues on with testimonies of families who can't beat camping as a family vacation, and a vacation closer to home is what many families will look for. As one customer said, "After all, camping is camping. No matter how far you drive. Really, if you're in the woods here, or you're in the woods up north, you're still surrounded by trees!"
